Best Time to travel:

Florence is always buzzing with tourists, you will find them in large groups surrounding attractions such as the Duomo di Firenze, even in the worst weather. If you are looking to visit and experience warm weather, head to Florence in early April (or october) before it becomes too hot in the city. The restaurants and cafes will open up their outdoor seating when the warm weather rolls in. If you're looking to escape the crowds, november, January, February and March is very good (with low price).  In December the entire city (and also our apartment) is decorated with lights and Christmas trees for the festive season . Is the opportunities to shop for Italian fashion.

The climate is generally mild (rarely in winter it is cold and the snow falls only for a few hours). The temperature in winter rarely drops below freezing and this happens only at night.

There are many sunny days during the year.

Our riverside terrace is covered and faces south. Some of my guests have used even in January! !

Walking in Florence:

Most of the major tourist sights in Florence are within easy walking distance of each other. It is possible to walk from one end of the historic center of Florence to the other - North-South or East-West in a half hour. Walking is not only an easy way to get around, it also offers the chance to 'take in' much more of the city life.

Some of the streets in central Florence are closed to traffic. Many more are simply too narrow for buses to get through. Therefore, bus and car tours are not recommended. This is a very small, very compact city that really needs to be seen by foot.

Driving inside the historic center of Florence is virtually impossible.

Only residents with permits are allowed to drive there. Enforcement of the "Limited Traffic Zone" or "ZTL" is by camera. Violators will be tracked down and fined.

Our apartment is located in a strategic position: we are 500 meters from where the tour buses stop to drop off tourists to start visiting the city on foot.

Park your car in the garage of our apartment and then visit the city on foot (or by taxi, they are fast and cheap, or public buses, 30 meters from our apartment is the stop).
